The Northern Alberta Cooperative Housing Association (NACHA) is a federation of Housing Cooperatives. We provide a variety of services to our membership and to the public who are interested in finding out more about cooperative housing.

We offer a variety of information/resources including a monthly public information session that can assist families in becoming a members of a housing cooperative project. 

How To Apply:

Edmonton area co-ops have very long waiting lists.  You can expect anywhere from a 3 month to 5 year wait for a vacancy.  Please be aware that not all co-ops have subsidies available.  

  1. Attend manadatory information session.
  2. Select co-ops of interest from the co-op listing.
  3. Apply to each co-op individually following their specific application process

  • 1.  NACHA is not involved in the placement of families in its member housing co-ops.
  • 2.  Co-op Application fees range between $20-30. Before you apply for housing, it is a good idea to get a copy of your credit report to make sure there are no mistakes or old information that will affect your application. Calling all NACHA Members to Get Involved! National Campaign: You Hold the Key - Fix the Co-op Housing Crunch

Canada's governments need to take action now to keep rent-geared-to-income housing assistance in place for low-income households who will lose it after the federal housing agreements end.  We're asking governments to create and fund long-term, cost-shared rent supplement programs, to be delivered by provinces and territories.

If your co-op wants to protect these homes, please pass an important resolution to endorse the You Hold the Key - Fix the Co-op Housing Crunch campaign.

When your Board (or members) passes the resolution, please let NACHA know via info@nacha.ca and send a copy of the resolution to Dallas Alderson, Program Manager, Policy and Government Relations.
